At Ardel, we specialize in working with the aerospace industry.

Ardel_Commercial_Space_FlightNot only is our machine shop outfitted with the latest precision machines, but we are also able to provide secondary processes such as plating and heat treating through our approved vendors.

As mentioned in a previous blog post, we have approved vendors that are NADCAP certified, which means we can comply with specific aerospace and defense requirements. They can also comply with RoHs and REACH requirements. Two common specs that we use at Ardel are the anodizing spec, Mil-A-8625, and the chemical conversion coating spec, Mil-C-5541, most often called chem. film. However, most all coatings can be supplied.

Both of these specifications help to increase corrosion resistance and wear resistance while not affecting the properties of the base materials. The anodizing specification also has different classes such as 1 and 2 which designate color. Class 1 is non-dyed and Class 2 is dyed and different types will designate the thickness. Like the anodizing specification the chemical conversion specification also has types and classes which address the color of the coating and the composition.
